spring bear

scouting update: i made the trip from forest grove ore. nearly 300 miles south to the gold beach area in search of spring bear. i drove and hiked my usual spots with no confirmed sightings or evidence of bear. there must be a bear running around the hills somewhere. however, if you haven't had the opportunity to get out there yet,you probably have not missed much. heading back out soon!

well, after much persistence i finally bagged my first bear. once i was sure he was moving about in my area i set up a nice ground blind. he circled me and busted me with his nose every time. finally i climbed 30 feet up a tree.
i wasnt well concealed but thank god he never looked up. he was hit hard in the front shoulder, i didnt fall out of the tree, then the work began.
