Elk hunting Wyoming on private ranches scattered throughout Northern Wyoming provide excellent opportunities to take trophy mule deer . This, combined with the best Elk Hunting guides in the business, makes Powder Horn Outfitters a step above the rest! Hunting accommodations include food, cabins (we prefer that you bring your own bedroll or sleeping bag), transportation of meat and mounts to the nearest processing plant or taxidermist, two hunters per guide, unless you prefer a 1-on-1 hunt which will be priced higher. All Elk hunting Wyoming trips are conducted on private ranches where management of the game herds are a crucial element in consistently producing trophy western big game animals for our clientele. Some ranches do have parcels of BLM and National Forest on or adjacent to the ranches, but access is strictly controlled by the private property. Our goal at Powder Horn Outfitters is to provide the best opportunity for hunters to harvest trophy western big game on their hunt. Also, being comfortable, not only in the camps, but with the people running the operation is crucial for an enjoyable and memorable hunt. We hope you take the time to contact us for your western trophy big game adventure. You will have to apply for an out of state hunting license, and there is a drawing for elk, deer, and antelope licenses. There are date deadlines for our Elk Hunting applications, so please see our general page for more information regarding hunting licenses. We require a $500.00 booking fee to hold a place in one of our hunting camps, which will be applied to the 50% deposit that is required if you are successful in drawing a license. The balance of the hunt fee will be paid upon your arrival at Powder Horn Outfitters. There are different seasons for each animal hunted, Elk Hunting, Deer Hunting, Lion and Antelope, so make sure you check this when you make your reservation. You will need to bring your rifle and ammunition (243 caliber or larger, sighted for 300 yards). Fluorescent orange jacket or coat, sleeping bag, hunting boots (leather and waterproof a must!). Two pair is a good idea, one insulated for cold weather and one normal weight. If bringing only one pair, be prepared for cold, wet weather. Bring warm clothing, layers are best, as they can be shed away.
