It is our goal at BHFC to offer our clients a rewarding and enjoyable outing. Our guides will do their best to teach you some of the tricks to becoming successful on our local waters, while retaining just the right amount of information to keep you coming back each year. We are blessed with year round Fly fishing opportunities in the Finger Lakes region. We will fish most of the tributaries to Lake Ontario including the Salmon River, Oak Orchard, Genesee River, as well as some smaller waters like the Oatka creek, Wiscoy and the Cohocton. Fish species and time of the year will dictate our game plan as where to fish. Late winter and early spring offers us the chance to get into some excellent Steelhead fishing. As always we need the cooperation of Mother Nature to keep the streams at fishable levels. The preferred method to take these brilliant fish is on light tackle fly gear. We will show you, our client, how to properly play these fish on light tackle and how truly rewarding it is to land these magnificent fish. As the month of April rolls around our other local streams open up and offer us some great Brown Trout and Rainbow fishing. Traditional spring techniques with egg patterns and small nymphs make for some enjoyable days on the water. As the summer season approaches so does the dry fly season. This , however is not the only way to fish. We will utilize traditional nymphing techniques, and maybe even work some streamers. Our spring and freestone creeks offer us a great summer fishery. As evening approaches and with a little luck we can catch the spinner falls and watch the streams come alive. Nothing is better than the sounds of a flowing stream and rising Brown trout gulping down those flies. For those of you who prefer to catch warm water fish we can target both large and small mouth bass as well as pan fish. This is a great way to introduce a child to the wonders of fishing on either, Fly or traditional spinning gear.
